Types of Boats
Most recreational boats fall into one of these categories of pleasure craft:
- Personal watercraft (waverunners, etc.)
- Paddlesports boats (kayaks, canoes, shells, inflatables)
- Dinghies (whether powered by sail, motor or paddles)
- Runabouts (up to 25 ft., inboard and outboard powered)
- Daysailers (sailboats up to 25 ft.)
- Cruisers (25 to 65 ft.)
- Sailboats (cruising and racing, 25 to 65 ft.)
Of course, there are other, larger types of boats used for commercial and military purposes.
